The Middlesex DX group first dabble in contesting back in 2008 when the group went out to find a location that was close to home but took us out of the bowl of London. This site wasn't a easy find but it was the start of a era for the group.
On the 8th June M0MDG took part in Practical Wireless 2008 QRP Contest.
In the rolling hills of the chilterns ( IO91MP ) we set up camp.
Using a pair of 17 Element Tonna's , Yaesu FT-290 and EI5di SDV Logging Software..
Weather was fantastic although a bit windy and the antennae looked a bit suspect at times. The gazzebo was at one stage ready to take form as a large kite.we ended up with 63 qso's 1386 points and 22 squares.
We came 20th overall.
The group have taken part in the follow contests:
RSGB NFD 2009 and the group headed towards the coast in JO00EW.
We entered in the Restricted section on the 50MHz/144Mhz/70Cms and 23Cms and came 6th in this section.
RSGB March 2010 again heading down to our second site at JO00EW
Entering in the Open section 144MHz/432MHz coming 3rd in this section.
RSGB NFD 2011 keeping within the Restricted section, again at JO00EW entering 50MHz/144MHz/433MHz and 23Cms coming 6th in this section.
Practical Wireless QRP 144MHz 2011 keeping it close to home at IO91MP we came 17th out of 62 entries.
RSGB March 2013 again at our second site JO00EW entering in the Open section 144MHz/432MHz coming 3rd in this section.
RSGB NFD 2013 not putting in for 4 bands this year and entering 50Mhz/144MHz and 432MHz in the Restricted section at JO00EW. Coming in 11th place.
RSGB March 2014 one of our best years at JO00EW entering in the Open section on 144MHz and 432MHz coming in 2nd place
RSGB NFD 2014 running 4 bands in the restricted section and coming an overall 3rd place
RSGB March 2016 having a few problems with 70cms we stuck to one band and came 5th place
RSGB May 2016 worrying about the weather it came through for us and had a great weekend awaiting results
